Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Kilpatrick age 65 of Gadsden who died Monday, will be 6 pm Friday at Crestwood Chapel. Kevin Kilpatrick and Jeff Sauls will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home in charge of services.
Kenneth was a member of Paden Baptist Church as a youth and Macedonia Baptist Church after marrying. He attended Donahoo Elementary School and Litchfield Middle School. He graduated from Gadsden High School in 1968. Kenneth was a proud member of the Gadsden High Marching Band. He played the sousaphone and tenor saxophone. He also played in numerous bands as a young man including The Glass Menagerie and The Shinbone Ridge Boys. He attended Gadsden State Community College.
Kenneth worked maintenance at Fort McClellan. He worked as a carpenter for sixteen years with Supermarket Design and Maintenance, Gregerson's. The last twelve years of his career he worked for Hussman as a plumber and pipe fitter throughout the southeastern United States.
Kenneth was easily loved and admired by many because of wit, wisdom, and genuine interest in others. His joyful spirit was infectious. The work ethic he demonstrated throughout his life will be remembered by many. He insisted on a job well done to the highest standards always attending to the most minor details. Kenneth was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He cherished life and the quality time he spent with loved ones. He relished the little things in life and could find humor in any circumstance. Kenneth was a life long learner, particularly in the areas of science and history. He thoroughly enjoyed and imparted his knowledge on his family. He was passionate about music, music history, and playing the guitar. His nurturing, warm spirit and unconditional love will be missed by those closest to him.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Sybil Kilpatrick grandparents Guy R. and Julia Ross and Oliver and Vana Kilpatrick.
He is survived by wife of 38 years Lana Kilpatrick, sons Brian(Jennifer),Kevin(Kriszti),Kasey(Tarrah) Kilpatrick and daughter Kimberly(Scott) Fells, chosen son Brad Barnes, grandchildren Noah and Ben Kilpatrick, Lincoln Kilpatrick, Sawyer Kilpatrick, Gracie and Jake Ede, Lani and Macy Fells, father Orell Kilpatrick, brother in-law Ronnie Bryan and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 pm until the time of service.
