Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Kathryn Irene Black, age 83, of Gadsden, who went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2010, after a brief sickness. Howard Holland and Jean Black will officiate the service. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mrs. Black was born and attended school in Alexander City, but, spent most of her life in Gadsden. She retired from General Times and Wal-Mart. She was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church for many years. Kathryn loved sitting on the porch with her family. She enjoyed gospel music, painting, reading and watching her great grandchildren's activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Black; her son, John Michael Black; and her daughter, Kathy Black Campbell.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Kenneth) Robertson, Jo Anna (Howard) Holland and Amanda Morgan; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.
Pallbearers will be Danny Campbell, Stephen, Nathan and Travis Holland, Barney Horn, Rodney Johnson, Jonathan Lambert, Tanner Morgan, Casey Rager and Jason Robertson.
The family extends its thanks to Jean Black, Danny and Susan Richards, Margaret Dawson, the nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional MICU, 8th and 9th floors staff, Dr. James Robinson, Dr. Gary Kwan, Dr. Edward Hwang, Dr. Mohammed Kabir, Dr. Asif Kaleem and the staff of DaVita Dialysis.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
