Funeral will be 1 pm Wednesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. J.L. "Junior" Bedwell, of Southside who died Monday. Brother Lauil Thompson will officiate . Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
J.L. retired from Republic Steel as a consultant in strip galvanizing with 38 years of service. He loved to be in his garden and share vegetables with his friends in Western Hills. He was an avid Alabama fan and loved his dog Busterboy. Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved family. J.L. was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by wife of 66 years ,Jackie Bedwell; parents Bertha and Claude Bedwell; sister Hazel Hart; brothers Frank Bedwell, Wendell Bedwell ,Jim Bedwell and Bo Bedwell.
He is survived by his son Bruce(Melisa) Bedwell; daughter April(Eddie) Stone; grandchildren Brandi(Brian) Winningham, Holley(Alan) Smedley, John(Kristin) Bedwell, Amy Bedwell, Beth(Tim) Copeland, Beverly(Alan) Neal, Brooke(Michael) Damian; great grandchildren Carly(Taylor) Shields, Austin and Ashleigh Winningham, Allysa and Chloe Smedley, Aubrey and Addison Bedwell, John Griffin Bedwell, Hoyt and Elyse Copeland, Bailee and Rylee Jo Neal, Parker Damian; Great-Great grandchildren Beau and Ella Kate Shields., brother Doug(Andy) Bedwell, sisters Betty Jo McClendon Rainbow City ;Shelly Crowell Titusville Florida; Shirley Shelley, Bartow Florida;Martha Wright,Cedar Bluff Al, Pat(Terry) Moore, Brandon Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be grandsons John Bedwell, Brian Winningham, Alan Smedley, Alan Neal, Tim Copeland and Michael Damian.
