Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home on Monday January 11, 2020 for Julie Elizabeth Awbrey, 48, of Gadsden, who died on January 6, 2021. Rev. Daniel Woodcock will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Julie was a 1990 graduate of Coosa Christian High School and attended Gadsden State Community College. She was a secretary for Crestwood Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Rattray Awbrey and Louise Pope Awbrey, brother Bruce Shirley, and grandparents John Emmett Awbrey Jr. and Bernice Rattray Awbrey and George F. Pope and Veo Lovvorn Pope.

She is survived by her daughter Alyssa L. Alexander, brother John C. Awbrey, sister Gina Shirley Pineiro, nephew Justin Wyatt, nieces Amber Wyatt Najm and Andrea Wyatt Ablordeppey, aunts Mildred Pope Butts and Sula Gwin Pope, uncles Frank Pope and Jim Pope, and numerous cousins and other relatives.

The family requests no flowers or plants to be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Etowah County Humane Society and/or the Cherokee County(Al) Humane Society.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday January 11, 2021 at Crestwood Funeral Home.
