Helen Ligon, 101, Gadsden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, Feb. 1, 2016.
Celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Crestwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of funeral. Her grandson, the Rev. Mark Cosby, will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
Helen loved her Lord, her church, her family and her many friends. She was a fine Christian example to all that knew her. She was a charter member of East Gadsden United Methodist Church.
Helen worked at The Exchange Bank of Alabama for 36 years. She loved each and every one she worked with. She retired from the bank when she was 96 years old, and moved to Cherry Creek Retirement Home, where she enjoyed and cherished her time of life until her death.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thomas L. Ligon; parents, William and Ellen Taylor; brothers, Bill, Jim and Bob Taylor; son, Thomas (Tommy) Ligon Jr.; daughters, Sue Jacobs and Nancy Lawson; grandchildren, William Steve Lawson and Karen Henson.
She leaves to cherish her many memories her daughter, Charlotte Cosby (Dink); granddaughters, Jenny Tunstall (Sam), Yvonne Mitchell and Kim Lankford (Jeff); grandsons, Mark Cosby (Lana), Jon Ligon (Diane) and Myron Henson; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be staff and residents of Cherry Creek Retirement Village.
Special thanks to all the Amedisys staff; especially Missy, Joy, Janet, David, Jessica and so many others that loved and cared for Helen, including her sitters Carolyn, Marie and Myra.
