Memorial service will be at 4pm Saturday January 11, at Crestwood Chapel for Juanzetta "Sam" Gibbs, age 77, of Glencoe, who passed away January 9, 2014. Brother Roy Moore will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.
Sam was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. She had worked many years as a dental hygienist and had worked along side her husband at their business, George's Junk-Shun. She was a born again Christian.
She is preceded in death by her parents Myron Spurgeon and Vera Davis Spurgeon; and sons Phillip McCarver and Charles "Chuckie" Redd.
She is survived by her husband George W.Gibbs; grandchildren Rachel Shiver and family and David McCarver; stepchildren Kelly (Randee) Gibbs, Alan (Kim) Gibbs, and Marisa Gibbs; step Grandchildren Chad (Tricia) Gibbs, Ashleigh (Beau) Ashley, Lindsey (Bruce) Walsh, Natalie (Kevin) Humphrey, David (Jaclyn) Gibbs, and Nathan Gibbs; 7 step great grandchildren; brother Charles Spurgeon; special niece Gina (Dale) Seguin; and dedicated friends Gale and Jerry Jelks and Katherine and Doug Finkley.
Honorary pallbearers are her friends and residents of McGuffey Health Care.
The family would like to express special thanks to the caring employees of McGuffey Health Care, Lawley Hospice, and Dr. James Robinson.
