Mrs. Joy Nell Lambert went to be with her Lord on January 13, 2018, at the age of 83.

The funeral service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Tommy Marshall officiating. The Family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service, from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.

Joy Nell spent her life in Gadsden until 2013, when she and her husband, Ray, moved to Danville, Virginia, to be near their daughter, Jennifer, and her family. Joy Nell was preceded in death by Ray in 2015.

Joy Nell was a person of deep Christian faith. Through their church, she and Ray had a passion for working with the youth. Joy Nell was the leader and mentor of a group of young ladies known as Acteens, who met in her home. She and Ray were involved for years in a bus ministry that had an outreach to various parts of the Gadsden community, to bring to church, children and youth, who might not otherwise attend, the ministry was instrumental in leading many of them to Christ. Her example of Christian faith is the legacy for which she would most want to be remembered.

Joy Nell was preceded in death by her parents, G.C. (Jack) and Violet Day. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Owens (Mark); her granddaughters, Channon Loubriel (Joey) and Sondra Owens; her sister, Connie Lewis (Glenniss); her brother, George Day (Beth); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved.

Pallbearers will be Joey Loubriel, Gene Johnson, Louis Earl Gray, Kip Williams, Brent Byrd and Tyler Byrd.
