Jonny “Pop” Willingham, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on November 28, 1951, and passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, with his loving family surrounding him.

Pop was a graduate of Jacksonville State University, where he earned a degree in Accounting. He later enjoyed a successful career with Carr, Riggs & Ingram, retiring in 2013.

Pop had a passion for playing tennis and found great enjoyment in making model cars. He also loved watching movies and took great pride in his extensive movie collection. Pop was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. He was always making jokes and bringing joy and laughter to those around him. That playful spirit remained with him throughout his entire life, right up until the very end. Above all, Pop cherished his family and the time he spent with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward Willingham Sr. and Louise Vaughan; sister, Linda (Ronald) Payne; brother, Joseph Edward Willingham Jr.; and sister, Susan (George) Crosby, half brother Eddie Valdez

Pop is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sandy Willingham; son, Jason Thomas (Carrie) Willingham; stepson, Matt (Tara) Lovell; grandchildren, Mattie Lovell, Noah Lovell, and Emily Douglas; sister-in-law, Peggy Thrasher Willingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special acknowledgment and heartfelt thanks go to Joseph Willingham and Brad Crosby for their love, support, and care.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of ACG Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and love they provided to Pop and his family.

A private service will be held at a later date.
