Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crestwood Chapel for Johnny Welch, 73, Gadsden, who died of cancer Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016. The Rev. Kevin Garrett and Brother Paul Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
He was a Goodyear retiree and a longtime member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jewell and Bartie Welch; and sister, Martha Kate Welch.
He is survived by wife, Mattie Welch; daughter Rita (Jaquay) Burns; grandsons, Jackie and John Burns.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Welch requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association .
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday.
