On Wednesday June 27, 2018, J.W. Griffith went home to be with his Heavenly Father and his earthly bride. Services will be 12 noon Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Griffith age 88 of Gadsden. Reverend Joe Dismukes will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Mr. Griffith worked for Meadow Gold Dairy for over 47 years from delivery to supervision-management. After retiring he worked for a food distributer well in to his mid-eighties, doing food shows, working sales and inventory control for grocery stores throughout several southeastern states. He remained very active physically and loved helping others. His lifelong positive outlook on life never wavered. He enjoyed the outdoors and mowed not only his lawn but the church's lawn and those of his neighbors. He loved water sports from trick skiing to fishing. He was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Whorton Bend United Methodist Church where he was nicknamed "The coffee maker" because he was always the first to arrive.

He is preceded in death by wife Mary Frances, parents Sherman and Jessie Griffith and brothers Alton and Kenneth.

He is survived by son Rick(Vickie) Griffith, grandchildren Jason Griffith, Jennifer(David) Sides and Allison(Michael) Sepulveda, great grandchildren Isabelle, Sam, Kaitlyn and Jason ,sister Wylodine Quinn and nephews Terry Griffith, Danny Quinn and Doug Prater.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whorton Bend United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 am until the time of service.
