Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Crestwood Chapel for John "J.A." Christopher, 91, of Rainbow City, who died Tuesday, June 4, 2013. The Rev. Kenneth Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
He loved his family, friends and the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a business owner, specializing in demolition. The results of his work can be seen throughout Gadsden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the Rev. Willie Beatrice Christopher; son, John Louie Christopher; parents, John and Sarah Christopher; and 10 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Strahan and Shirley (Gene) Moon; daughter-in-law, Margaret Christopher Brown; grandchildren, Keith (Barbara) Christopher, Maurice Christopher, Glen (Joni) Christopher, Sabrina Hedglin, Lee (Angela) Strahan, Tammy (Barry) Crocker, Ray (Kathlyn) Moon, David (Wendy) Moon, Karen Moon and Jason (Jennifer) Moon; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
