Mr. Phillips was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and a graduate of Glencoe High School, class of 1949. He had retired from Fordham Transfer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a member of Glencoe First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Blanton Phillips; son, Joe Keith Phillips (Suzanne Johnson); grandson, Zach Phillips (Trina); great-grandchildren, Chloe and Bryant Phillips; and sister, Betty Chamblee (Everett).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bonnie Ruth Phillips; and brothers, Jerry and Charles Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Ray Hicks, Jacob Johnston, Zach Phillips, Joey Sims, Randy Holcomb and Lance Brown.

Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Crestwood Chapel for Joe Allen Phillips, 82, of Glencoe, who passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. The Revs. Vince Whittington, Keith Hudson and Barry Benefield will officiate. The family will receive friends at Crestwood Chapel on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will officiate.
