Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 8, 2020 at Crestwood Funeral Home for Mr. Joe Atkins Jr., age 69, of Glencoe, who passed away on September 4, 2020. Steve Baccus and Eddie Gooch will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is charge.

Mr. Atkins enjoyed attending church at Hokes Bluff Methodist. He was a talented builder. He loved Auburn, spending time with his grandchildren and his TKE Fraternity brothers, his dogs, and his wife.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, children Lori Whidby and Joel Atkins, parents Joe and Phyllis Atkins, sister Pam(John) Darden, grandchildren Grace and Josh Whidby, special cousins Martha and Keith Gray, special friends  Angie and Kenny Kenner, and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the summer camp program at Camp Sumatuga at 3616 Sumatuga Rd Gallant, Al. 35972.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to issue a special thanks to his caregivers Tina Dunn, Hazel Garth, and Miebony Malone and to the staff of Amedysis Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home until the time of service.
