JoAnn Miller Dobbs, 81, of Gadsden, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held at Rainbow Presbyterian Church, Friday, May 31, at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
Born January 31, 1932, in Dawson, AL, JoAnn was the daughter of the late Joe B. and Fannie Worthy Miller. She graduated from Fyffe High School and was trained as a registered nurse at the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital in Gadsden, AL. Much of her nursing career was spent at the Mountain View TB Hospital in Gadsden, and she also served as College Nurse at Gadsden State Community College.
JoAnn lived a life devoted to serving others. She tirelessly served her church family at Rainbow Presbyterian in countless ways! She also regularly volunteered at The Way of the Cross and MANNA. If there was ever a task to be done or someone to be served, JoAnn was always the first to answer the call.
JoAnn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Bob Dobbs; children, Diane Prince (Lew), Lisa Dobbs, Donna Wiesehan (Rick), Bobby Dobbs (Dianna), Joe Dobbs and Richard Dobbs (Faith); grandchildren, Kelly, Jon, Lara, Brandon, Bobby, Nicole, Jessica, Sarah, Christina, Liberty, Hannah and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Emma, Walker, Chloe and Auna Kay.
JoAnn is also survived by sisters, Susan Murphy, Imogene Gilbert and Lou Croley (Bill), and was preceded by her parents; brothers, Lamar and Charles Eddy Miller; and sisters, Estelle Bailey and Vestal Gilbert.
Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Lew Prince and Rick Wiesehan; and grandsons, Jon Prince, Caleb Dobbs and Brandon Wiesehan.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by donations in JoAnn's name to Rainbow Presbyterian Church, The Way of the Cross and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.
