Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Joan Black, 72, of Hokes Bluff, who died Friday, Sept. 19. The Rev. Frank Samuels will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral home is in charge of services.
Mrs. Black was a longtime member of College Heights Baptist Church. She loved camping, swimming and boating with her family. She was employed with several local auto dealerships as secretary and bookkeeper. She loved time with her family friends and church family and will be dearly missed by them all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; and parents, Clarence and Cecil Woolf; in-laws, Dot and Allen Black.
She is survived by sons, Mark (Donna), Brad (Gail) Black; daughter, Teresa (Mickey) Mueller; grandchildren, Misty (Brian) Long, Brandon (Alyson) Black, Tim (Jennifer) Black, Ashley (Brandon) Bearden, Katie Holcomb; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Hunter, Abi, Landon, Lakyn, Brayden and Kynlie; sister, Frances Schmuck; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Special thanks to her College Heights Church family who were there when she needed them and the MICU nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, as well as Dr. Muhammed Kaleem.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
