Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, June 3rd, at Crestwood Chapel for Jo Anne Burgess, 77, of Gadsden, who passed away June 1st, 2015. Pastor Tommy Ferguson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Burgess was a lifelong resident of Gadsden. She attended Glencoe High School and then Gadsden Business College. Jo Anne was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church for 20 years, and was a Godly woman. She loved Alabama University and she was a hardworking woman. She devoted her life to her children, whom she loved along with her grandchildren. She also loved her cat, Herbert, and granddog, Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Collins R. Burgess; son, Gerald Wayne Thacker; parents, O.A. Hood and Stella Mae Sheffield Hood; and brother, Robert Wayne Hood.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her daughters, Gloria Deason and Jolie Thacker; grandchildren, Aja Deason and Drew Deason; step-granddaughter, Alison Deason Wilkey; lifelong friend Glenda Reeves; sisters, Glenda Sewell and Marilyn Patton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will accept friends from 1 until the time of the service on Wednesday.
