Jimmy "JD" Roberts

Funeral will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, November 21st, 2015, at Crestwood Chapel for Jimmy Don "JD" Roberts, 80, of Glencoe, who passed away Wednesday, November 18th, 2015. Mr. John Blackwell will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Roberts retired from Republic Steel with over 30 years of service. He then joined in the family business running Mac's Landing Marina in Guntersville. He was married to Harriet the love of his life for over 60 years, having been sweethearts since the third grade.. He was a Christian and lifelong Baptist. He loved fishing, Auburn football and Atlanta Braves. He was granddaddy to all at Jefferson's. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet McClendon Roberts; parents, Walter and Oma Dee Roberts; sister, Betty Lankford; brother in-law, Kenneth Huff.

He is survived by his children, Laura (Mike) McKenzie, Ginger (Steve) McNair, Jason (Jamie) Roberts, April (Dallas) Mayo; grandchildren, Josh, Zack (Molly) McKenzie, Jarred (Rachel) McNair, Jakea (Josh) Player, Dalton Roberts, Mason, Allyson "Ally" Mayo; brother in-law, Jimmy McClendon; sisters in-law, Regina (Tweety) McClendon and Betty Huff; faithful buddy and companion, Poncho.

Pallbearers are Josh M., Zack, Jarred, Dalton, Mason, Dallas, and Josh P.

Special thanks to Dr. Murray Minton, Dr. Christopher White, nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional's 9th Floor, and loving caregiver, Shelby Thacker, who considered him her adopted granddaddy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of the service.
