Jessie Leo Lovell, age 93, of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away on July 29, 2026. Born on September 18, 1932, Jessie lived a long, honorable life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a steady, hardworking spirit.

Jessie proudly served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant (MSgt/E7). He served with courage and commitment in both Korea and Vietnam, standing faithfully beside his fellow servicemembers through challenging and historic times. His dedication, loyalty, and resilience remain a lasting point of pride for his family and all who knew him.

After his military service, Jessie continued contributing to his community by teaching body shop and automotive repair at Gadsden State Community College, Talladega College, and the E.H. Gentry School for the Deaf and Blind. He enjoyed sharing his hands-on knowledge and practical skills, helping many students build confidence and a solid foundation for their future careers.

Jessie shared 12 loving years of marriage with his wife, Betty Walker Lovell, who remained by his side with devotion and care.

In his later years, Jessie found joy and companionship in caring for his beloved dog, Harley, tending to him with the same gentleness and loyalty he showed throughout his life. Jessie was also known for his great sense of humor, he loved to tell jokes, bringing laughter and warmth to everyone around him.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Adoration Hospice and Visiting Angels, whose caregivers supported Jessie with compassion, patience, and dignity in his final days. Their kindness brought comfort and peace, and their care will always be remembered with deep gratitude.

Funeral arrangements and services will be handled by Crestwood Memorial Cemetery and Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Gary Williams of Fairview Baptist Church, the church Jessie and Betty attended. David Carpenter, Chaplain with Adoration Hospice, will also officiate and share in leading the service.

Jessie will be remembered for his quiet dignity, his devotion to family, his honorable military service, and the joy he shared through laughter. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, his students, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
