Funeral services will be 1 pm Thursday 7/19/0218 at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Van Dickie, age 72, of Attalla. Reverend Wayne Roden will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Van was born on Sand Mountain but lived in Attalla for the past 28 years. He was a Goodyear retiree with over 32 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking , cabinet building traveling, and talking with friends on the back porch swing.

He is preceded in death by parents General and Etta Dickie and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lanelle Dickie, children Kim (Chris) Henson, Leann(Phillip) Kaylor, Kevin Dickie, Jeff(Tina) Simmons and Rhonda Simmons, seven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sister Avie (Ed) Boyd and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Goodyear Retiree club and special friend Ronnie Hayes.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Siberton Baptist Church.

Special thanks to the staff of Encompass Hospice, formerly Camelia Hospice, especially nurse Brandon,  Tammy and Bridgette.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 11 am until the time of service.
