Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Jerry "Chief" Tomlin Sr., age 86, of Hokes Bluff, who died Wednesday.

Dr. Steve Screws will officiate. The burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Mr. Tomlin was a Navy Chief Petty Officer retiree with over 20 years of service. He then located to Gadsden and retired as an electrician with Good Year Tire and Rubber Company. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening, and was a longtime member of Hokes Bluff First United Methodist Church. When questioned about his faith he replied "I believe Jesus is my only hope".

He is preceded in death by parents Thomas and Willie Mae Tomlin, and brother's Thomas Earl, and Bill Tomlin.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda, children Jay(Jeanne) Tomlin, Greg. Tomlin and Stephanie (Tim) Massey. Grandchildren Brittany, Lindsay, Joel, Caroline ,Connor and one sister Jane Brown.

Honorary pallbearers are James and Kathy Amos, Joyce Swindall and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lankford.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10 am until the time of service.
