Services will be 2 pm Saturday, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mr. Jerry W. Butler, age 81, of Hokes Bluff, who died Wednesday July 28, 2021.          Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.

Jerry was a loving and lively man, and always had a story to tell. Jerry was a proud dedicated veteran having served in both The Alabama National Guard, and The United States Air Force and loved to tell stories of his adventures in the military. Upon returning to civilian life he dedicated 35 years with the Gadsden Steel Plant, and 8 years with Alabama Security and K9. Loyal to being a defender, protector, even well beyond his service years. Jerry loved to be the neighborhood "security" walking the neighborhood early in the morning with his favorite flashlight and wearing his security hat.

He is preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Emmit Butler, son Joseph Butler, grandson Jacob Butler, ;brothers Buddy and Bobby Butler; sisters Patsy Williamson, Peggy Laws and Linda Faulkner.

Jerry is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Margaret "Maggie" Butler; brother and sister in law Larry(Vicki) Butler sister Faye(Donnie)Stewart, sisters in law Deborah(Johnny) Lay, Erma Greer and Julia Naylor as well as a host of nieces, nephews and chosen grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's or Veterans Associations

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12 pm until the time of service.
