IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanette Gaskin
Mchenry
February 3, 1939 – January 10, 2025
Celebrating the Life of Ms. Jeanette Gaskin McHenry A celebration of life for Ms. Jeanette Gaskin McHenry, age 85, of Boaz, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Crestwood Funeral Home. Ms. McHenry entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2025.
Born February 3, 1939, Jeanette was a lifelong resident of Sand Mountain, where she cherished the beauty of her community and the bonds of her family. She was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of Whitesboro Baptist Church. One of her greatest joys was singing in the church choir, a ministry she cherished deeply during her active years.
Jeanette will be fondly remembered for her warm, outgoing spirit and her remarkable ability to connect with others. She never met a stranger and affectionately referred to everyone as "Hun," leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Her career as a waitress showcased her remarkable charisma and work ethic; she was beloved by her customers, outshining her coworkers with her grace, charm, and unparalleled hospitality. Jeanette shared a beautiful life with her husband, Donald "Ray" McHenry, and their daughter, Rita. The three generations of women—Jeanette, her mother Ruth Fowler, and Rita—shared a bond of love and loyalty that was unbreakable. Jeanette's family was the center of her world, and her love for them will be cherished forever. Jeanette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald "Ray" McHenry; her cherished mother, Ruth Gaskin Fowler; her dear aunt, Irene Gaskin; her cousin, Willy Joe Gaskin; and a large extended family and circle of friends who have gone before her. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Rita (James) Brown; her treasured grandchildren, Monica (Eric) Powell and Joshua (Brandi) Brown; and her adored great-grandchildren, Sam Christian, Kinzley, and Myles Brown. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Gadsden Health Care, who cared for Jeanette with love and kindness and became like family to her. Jeanette's life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and love, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms." – John 14:1-2
