Jean P. Sewell of Glencoe died September 23. She was born January 6, 1926 in Melbourne .Australia and married John A. Sewell on June 9, 1945. Jean came to the United States along with many "war brides", and she became a naturalized citizen. Jean worked at the Gadsden Air Depot as a budget analyst from 1951 to 1961, and after that she worked at Fort McClellan until her retirement. Jean was a member of Glencoe First Baptist Church where she taught a women's Sunday School Class for many years. She was extremely talented and made beautiful clothes, painted oil pictures and created ceramics.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and youngest daughter Mary Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter ,Dr. Margaret Davis, wife of Phillip Davis and her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Michelle Mobley and husband Rick of Glencoe, Parents of Malory and Melissa; Lance Davis and wife Dana of Hillsboro TN, Parents of Will and Ben; Shawn Davis and wife Holly of Franklin TN., parents of Pete and Chip; Clay Davis and wife Monica of McCalla AL..
Visitation for Jean Sewell will be from 2-3pm on Friday Sept.28 at Crestwood Funeral Home, with the funeral to follow at 3pm.Reverend Chris Sullivan will officiate.
