Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, January 28, 2022, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mr. James Wells, age 89, of Athens, formerly Gadsden, who died Saturday, January 22, 2022. He will be entombed in Crestwood Mausoleum. Crestwood Funeral Home Announcing.

James will be remembered for enjoying small engine repair, gardening, Nascar, golf, fishing and Alabama Football. He was an Air Force Veteran having served during The Korean Conflict, a longtime member and Trustee at Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father grand and great grandfather loved by all and will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by parents, Dewey and Julia Wells, brothers J.D., Norman, Garvin, Herman Wells and sister Ophelia Lett.

He is survived by wife of 59 years, Ethel, son Darryl (Melanie) Wells granddaughter Amanda(Jacob)Patterson, grandson James Dewey Wells and great granddaughter, River McClain Patterson.
