Obituary

A graveside service will be at 5 p.m. today at Crestwood Cemetery for Mr. James Kenneth Holcomb, 65, Gadsden, who went to be home with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service. Kenneth served his God and Country proudly as a decorated veteran in the Vietnam War. He was a faithful servant and member of Word of Life Church. Kenneth lovingly provided for his family, retiring from Gadsden Water Works. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, of 42 years; treasured children, Chris Holcomb, Birmingham, and Jamie (Keith) Bruno, Huntsville; cherished grandchildren, Emma and Harrison Holcomb, Birmingham, and Samantha Norton, Huntsville; special daughter-in-law, Tiffany Holcomb; mother, Linnie Holcomb; special sisters, Anita Powell and Emma Lee Pearson; and a great host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, W.H. "Bill" Holcomb; brother, W.H. "Bug" Holcomb Jr.; and sister, Frieda Fielding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256. A special thank you to the Coates Bend Volunteer Fire and Rescue for their selfless dedication and service. There will be no visitation, but all family and friends are invited to meet at the graveside for the service.
