June 24, 1927 – January 21, 2023
Graveside services will be 2 pm, Monday, January 23,2023, at Crestwood Cemetery, for Mr. James Floyd "Doc" Haynes Jr., age 95, of Gadsden who died Saturday January 21,2023.
James retired from Republic Steel. He was an accomplished carpenter. He participated in several mission trips with Carpenters for Christ. He was a proud WWII Veteran having served in The U.S Army in Germany. James was a former Commander of The Glencoe V.F.W. Post 10408. He was instrumental in the erection of The WWII monument in Glencoe. James was a former member and Deacon of Glencoe First Baptist Church. At the time of his passing he was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church,Collinsville Alabama. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Opal Lucille Thomas Haynes, and second wife Clara Benefield Green,parents James Floyd Sr. and Kate Lee Wallace Haynes and sisters Ruby Haynes Plemmons and Louise Haynes Poe. He is survived by loving Life Partner Martha Scott Tallant,son Terry(Janice) Haynes, daughter Vicki(Bill) Brannan,chosen son Kevin(Charlene) Tallant and Clara's children Nita and Pam. Surviving grandchildren are Blake(Angela) Haynes, Chris Brannan, and Josh(Hannah) Haynes, and Clara's several grandchildren; in addition, James is survived by two great grandchildren Baylee and Addison Haynes.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday January 23 ,2023 from 1 pm until the time of service.
