Funeral service will be at 11AM Wednesday, July 20, at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home in Rome, GA. for James W. Gaylor, Sr. age 77 of Wellington, AL, who died July 17, 2011. Rev. Jerry Brooks will officiate. Burial will be at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will handle arraignments locally, with Henderson and Sons Funeral Home in charge of services in Rome, Ga.
Born in Altoona, AL, he served 21 years in the Army, serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his sister Janet Brown, mother Pearl Gaylor, and father Archie Gaylor, and two grandsons David Burrows and Jerry Wayne Weatherby, Jr.
He is survived by one brother Billy Gaylor of Attalla, sisters Mary Cargle of Atlanta, Ga; Louise Tilley of Gadsden, Eloise Stewart of Gadsden, and Robbie Hartley of Rome, GA; sons: James W. Gaylor, Jr of Columbus, GA, Arnold Gaylor of Rome, GA; and Dewayne Gaylor of Columbus, Ohio; daughters: Barbara Weatherby of Rome, GA, Pam Burrows of Rome, GA; Pearl Broughton of Wellington, AL, and Vicki Golden of Wellington, AL; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or flowers may be sent (only) to Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, Rome, GA.
The family will receive friends at Crestwood Funeral Home on tonight from 6 until 8pm.
