Funeral will be 2 pm Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. James Edward Elrod age 83 of Gadsden who died Wednesday August 20/2014. Bro. James O. Wallace will officiate. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Ed Elrod was born in the Martin, AL community and moved to Gadsden in 1945. He served in The United States Marine Corps serving in The Korean War. He was retired from the City of Gadsden's Water Department. Ed loved his home place and took great satisfaction from horticulture, gardening and maintaining the park-like appearance of his home.

He is survived by his only child, Stephen Elrod, and his loving companion of 15 years, Anna Mayfield. Ed had four grandchildren: William Elrod, Jesse Elrod, Elizabeth Elrod and Nathan Elrod; great grandchildren: Peyton and Dylan Charlton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Riverside Christian Academy, P.O. Box 617, Fayetteville, TN 37334 or the Higher Ground Baptist Church 2955 Fairview Rd, Gadsden AL 35904.

Pallbearers will be Will, Jess, Nathan Elrod; Mike, Tyler and Taylor Mitchell.
