James Elsberry Cartee, 86, Birmingham, Alabama died on August 12, 2014 at home after a short illness. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Chatham, Atlanta, Ga. will officiate. Funeral service will be at 1pm Saturday at Crestwood Funeral Home with the burial in Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, La.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who is now with his daughter Natasha Cartee and son Dennis Lang in presence of God. He was a Gadsden native, who retired at 72 from Construction in Birmingham. He was an avid traveler and sport fan.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 39 years, Jackie Shaw Cartee, son Dr. John (Dr. Seine) Lang and precious grandchildren Courtney and Jonathan Lang, Seattle, Washington; Brother in law Paul (Belinda) Shaw, Royce City, Texas and Douglas (Rosemary) Shaw, Decatur, Alabama; Sister in law Mary Simons, West Monroe, La. and numerous nieces and nephews.
