Funeral will be 1 pm Friday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. James Thomas Carroll age 87 of Glencoe who went to be with the Lord Tuesday. Reverend David Bankson will officiate . Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mr. Carroll graduated from Albertville High School , and went on to obtain his Bachelor's from Jacksonville State and then received his Masters Degree from University of Alabama Graduate School. In between he served as an aircraft radio operator during The Korean War with The United States Air Force. He was a Goodyear retiree having worked in management for most of his carreer, he was a Christian and was member of Glencoe First Baptist ,Louis Street Baptist and Slackland Baptist church, teaching Sunday School and doing whatever he could to serve his fellow man. He was a member of Glencoe PTO, Cub scout master ,baseball coach, loved gardening traveling with his family to the beach or mountains. He was a loving husband , father, grandfather, great grandfather and great- great grandfather and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Loretta , daughter Lynn Kennedy and parents Tom and Reba Carroll.
He is survived by children Jim(Pam) Carroll, Patricia (Mike) Noah, Tom (Cindy) Carroll, Cindy(Tim) Hill and Joe(Debra) Carroll,8 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren and 2 great great- grandchildren and sister Sue Cowell.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to feed the displaced survivors of hurricane Harvey and Irma.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren , great grandchildren and great great- grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11 am until the time of service.
