Funeral Service was at 11am Thursday March 24 at Crestwood Chapel for James "Bullett" Smith, Jr., age 84, Gadsden, who died March 21, 2011. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will directed service.
Jim graduated from Gadsden High School. He served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Heyliger. He had retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church for most of his life. Jim was also a Mason and had received his 50 year pin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents James R. and Mary S. Smith and four brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Erlene Gilliland Smith; son James Bruce (Tammy) Smith; daughter Denise Smith (Lane) Talley; grandchildren Justin and Amber Smith, Christopher Talley, Elizabeth (Scott) Cooper, and Sara (Ethan) Tucker; sisters in law Burma (Bill) Morris and Mac Gilliland; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Lane Talley, Christopher Talley, Justin Smith, Virgil Morris , Scott Cooper, and Ethan Tucker .
