James Michael Broome, born on November 9, 1959, passed away at the age of 62 in his home Thursday, January 13, 2022.  Better known as "Mike" and "Big Paw Paw" he was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike was an Alexandria native for most of his life.  He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1978 where he played football under Head Coach Lou Scales, as a Full Back. He was a "die hard" Alabama Crimson Tide Fan. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and chasing women.  Mike loved to make people laugh.  He was a practical joker who never met a stranger.  He was the one person you could call on your best or worst days.  He would be there with a kind heart and loving open arms.

Mike is survived by his mother Barbara Pinson-Burns, his wife Lynn Broome, two daughters Audry Sprayberry and Ginny Broome.  He had three stepchildren Lane Phillips, Heather Buchanan, and Matthew Phillips. Granchildren include Ashlee Medders, Anderson Smith, Aaliyah Broome, Austin Stewart, Katelynn Stewart, Christian Stewart, Brenity Sprayberry, Jaylee Sprayberry, Keegan Buchanan, and Keeli Buchanan. He leaves behind seven loving brothers and sisters as follows Debra Cooley, Brenda Waters, Bert Broome, George Broome, Cynthia Broome, Glenda Headrick, and Anthony Broome. He also has many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Mr. Broome is proceeded in death by his son Kyle Andrew Broome, his father Bert Broome, Sr., great grandparents Mamie M. and George D. Broome. Grandparents Alice Wagnon-Broome and James William Broome, Harvey Hampton Pinson and Lucille Mason Pinson. Also his dog Buster, and his best friend Greg Bolling.
