Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mr. Jack Stephens, age 56, of Boaz, who died on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Dr. Mike Yopp will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Jack was born in Gadsden, Alabama and moved to California at a young age, where he spent 50 years working and raising his family. He retired from Northrop Grumman after 35 years of service then, he and his family moved back to Boaz. He loved N.H.R.A. drag racing, dirt bike riding and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Barbara Stephens; brother, Tom Stephens; brother-in-law, Steve Gardner; nephew, Jesse and a niece, Sara.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cathy Stephens; sons, Jason and Jonathan Stephens; granddaughter, Emily Paige; sisters, Sheila DeRochea and Susan Gardner; uncle, Ralph Brannon; nieces and nephews, Jaime, Jackie, Jennie, Jo Jo, Christine, Valerie, Alyssa, Christain, Payton and Logan.
In-Lieu-of-flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Jack.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jennifer Ballentine and chaplain, Dr. Mike Yopp with Gadsden Regional Hospice; to the nurses and staff of the 7th Floor South Cancer Unit at Gadsden Regional Medical Center; and to niece, Jaime for all of their loving care.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
