Funeral will be 2 pm Friday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Illa Preston Chapman age 97 of Southside who died February 24th. Reverends Dennis Chambers and Shawn Johnson will officiate .Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
She went peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior with her loving daughter by her side in Florida. She was a dedicated Christian and member of City Church of Rainbow City. She loved to attend Camp Meetings and enjoyed Gospel Music.
She loved to go to Pigeon Forge and to the theaters with her children. She loved watching Alabama Football and working in her flower beds ,she worked at Dwight Cotton Mill until it closed and retired from McGuffys Nursing Home at the age of 79.
She had the sweetest smile that she met everyone with, most of all she loved to cook for her family, and everyone waited for those famous fried pies. She loved her family and friends very much and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by husbands Ishell Tidwell and Whitt Chapman, parents Reverend W.H. and Ruth Preston, brothers and sisters in law Kermit and Olivia Preston, Reverend Hollis and Alma Preston, sister and brother in-law Eva and Lee Chambers and Opal Preston.
She is survived by daughter Ruth(Larry) Johnson, son, H.F.(Betty) Tidwell,8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren 4 great- great grandchildren 1 great- great- great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will except flowers or memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and family.
