A celebration service for Ruth Sheffield, 85, who went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, will be held at Bellevue Methodist Church, at 5:30 p.m. today. The Revs. Taylor Gallman and George Creel will officiate. Through Ruth's children's ministry, she touched so many lives with her love of telling Bible stories. In lieu of flowers, we would like to honor her by memorials being made to Bellevue Methodist children's ministry, 209 Mary Lou Circle, Gadsden, AL 35904. Ruth was a very devoted member of Bellevue Methodist Church and The Order of St. Luke. She was a student of the Bible and had a great love of Scripture. She worked at Bellevue Baptist Day Care. She served the Lord by teaching Bible at Northside Health Care, many children's facilities and Paraguay. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William Reed Clark and Sallie Weaver Clark; brother, William H. Clark "Buddy"; and father of her children, James E. Sheffield. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Bettye Lynn (Bobby) Blair and Patti (Tim) DuPree; grandchildren, Gina (David) Hendrix, Fonda (Allen Christian) Johnson and Jonathan Blair; sister, Orpha Louise Allison; sister-in-law, Lynn Clark; and lifelong friend, Betty Byrd. Special thanks to all her friends who helped over the past several years. There will be a private service at Crestwood. I will never forget Mother's last words, "God is in control
