Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Hokes Bluff for Mr. Hugh Daves, age 79, of Hokes Bluff, who died on Friday, December 28, 2012. Pastor Kyle Bryan, Bro. Harvey Beck and Bro. Steve Baccus will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.

Mr. Daves retired from Republic and L.T.V. Steel Corporation. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hokes Bluff and a member of the Dewey Ryan Sunday School Class. He was a 1957 graduate of Jacksonville University and served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Jack and Harold Daves; and sister, Muriel Crowder. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Daves; daughter, Susan (Glenn) Bryan; son, Alan (Michelle) Daves; grandchildren, Nathan, Kyle (LeAnn) Bryan, Jessica, Chad and Kate Daves; chosen grandson, Trevor Hamilton; brother, Bobby (Jean) Daves; sister, Nancy Conner and several nieces and nephews.

The family will accept flowers, or memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hokes Bluff. Pallbearers will be Chad Daves, Trevor Hamilton, Chip Reeves, Morgan West, James Wise and Dennis Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dewey Ryan Sunday School Class and Eloise Landers. Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice and to Blu Williams.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Hokes Bluff.
