Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mr. Howard
Dewayne Long age,81 of Glencoe who died Sunday. Reverends Gary Rivers, Randy
Postell and John Dickinson will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mr. Long was a 1956 graduate of Glencoe High School where he was class
president. He retired with over 40 years of service from Goodyear Tire and
Rubber Company. Served as a bus driver with The Etowah County School system
in the Glencoe area. He was a member of Queen City Eastern Star # 135,Gideons
International, Glencoe Masonic Lodge # 846. He served at Glencoe Senior
Outreach Center delivering meals to members in the community. He was a
member of East Gadsden Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon
and Usher. A faithful husband for 59 years , loving Father and grandfather, Godly
man who enjoyed living and serving his Glencoe community.
He is survived by wife Margaret Long, son, Michael Long, daughter Lisa Long
Nelson, granddaughter Emily Badcock, grandsons Isacc Long ,Jess Nelson,
Jared(Savanna) Nelson,9 great grandchildren, sister Regina Beaird, brothers
Milburn(Anna) Long, Dennis(Gail) Long and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to East Gadsden Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Charles Tolleson, Jim Wingo, Dorman Robinson, Doug Rosser,
Howard Gilbert and Edwin Buchanon.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glencoe Masonic Lodge # 846 and members of Sunday
School Class at East Gadsden Baptist Church.
Special thanks to Doctors , nurses and staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center,
staff of SICU ,9 TH floor, 8 TH floor , also Amedisys Hospice, Jay Beggs and Carmen
Wagnon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 until 8 pm.
