Obituary

Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 8 in Nowlen Chapel at First Baptist Church, Gadsden for Homer Donald Garmon, age 81, Regency Point, who died April 6, 2010. Rev, Brian Blass and Mr.Dick Grimes will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral home will direct.
Mr. Garmon was born in Cherokee County and a graduate of Cherokee County High School, class of 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. He graduated from Samford University with a BS in Business. He had retired in 1986 from Chevron Corporation USA, as the manager of the Aviation Division, Atlanta.
Mr. Garmon has been a Christian for 59 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Gadsden and was a member of the Dick Grimes Sunday School Class.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lily Wright Garmon; sons Gary Garmon and Gregory Lynn Garmon; Sisters Ruth Mackey and Sue Burke; brothers Ben Garmon, Charles Garmon, Houston Garmon, and Milford Garmon.
He is survived by his wife Nell Green Garmon, sister Clara Hopkins, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special Thanks to Amedysis Hospice of Gadsden nurses Tina Farris and Jay Beggs and other caregivers Ruth Barron and Chris Ash.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gadsden, 235 South Fifth Street, Gadsden, Alabama 35901.
The family will receive friends at Nowlen Chapel from 2pm until the hour of service.
