Obituary

Henrietta Black Foster was born February 14, 1923. She
went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior on June 12,
2023. She began her life in Atlanta, Georgia, the fourth child
born to Henry Black and Grace McGinnis Black.
Henrietta had two sisters, Christine Black Langford and
Genell Black Nuckolls and one brother, Lloyd Black.
They all preceded her in death.

She met the love of her life, Homer L. Foster and they
were married July 12, 1943. At that time Homer was
serving in the military. He was deployed overseas soon
after their wedding to defend our Country during WWII.
They enjoyed 53 years together before he passed away
in 1996.
In her professional life Henrietta served as Head
Registrar at Alabama School of Trades. She was always
a welcoming and friendly face to the students who
attended there.
Henrietta and Homer were very committed to their
Christian faith and were loyal members of Paden
Baptist Church in Gadsden.
The Fosters had the gift of hospitality. Their home was
always warm and welcoming, filled with laughter, love

and great food. They made everyone feel special and
loved. Their home was your home.
They housed many international students who attended
Gadsden State Community College. They gave them a
loving home away from home, becoming like parents to
young people from Columbia, Venezuela and other
places around the world.
