Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Sunday at Crestwood Funeral Home for Hazel Mae Pledger, 95, who passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016. The Rev. Cody Shaneyfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is directing.

Hazel was from Gadsden Alabama and spent most of her early adult life as the owner and operator of Hazel's Beauty Shop. She is a member of East Walnut Baptist Church and was married to the late Robert F. Pledger. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Willie and Oscar Smith; sister, Mary E. McDonough; brothers, AJ, Norman and Clyde Smith. Hazel is survived by her children, Barbara Marman (Dale) of Matthew, NC, Stanley Pledger (Judy) of Southside, Joan Latimer (Ralph) of Southside. Hazel has six grandchildren, Shannon, Kristi, Keith, Ty, Scott and Lisa and eight great-grandchildren, Rose, Izzy, Alden, Mariah, Everett, Ethan, Cam and Hayden. Special thanks to Amedysis Hospice: especially Lacey and Bobbie; also special caregiver, LaShonda Davis. The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. until time of funeral service.
