Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday at Crestwood Cemetery for Mr. Harold Jack" Guffey age 89 of Gadsden who died Wednesday. Lonnie "Al" Bailey will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Born in 1928 Jack married wife June Barclay in 1947, Jack attended and graduated from Gaston High School and Gadsden Trade School. He worked for Hanger Hinge Company ,Pipe Plant, Allis Chalmers in Gadsden. In 1965 he owned and operated C & L Machine Shop until he retired in 1985.
Jack passed away from complications due to Alzheimer's and Dementia.
He is survived by sons, Jeff(Brenda),Danny, and Gary(Ann)Guffey ,nephew Steve Whitley, sister Sharon(Harold) Cranford, grandsons Brandon(Susan) Guffey, Chase(Trudy) Guffey, granddaughter Kristie(Jody) Roper and Lori Walker,8 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He is preceded in death by wife of 65 years June C. Barclay Guffey, parents Lawson and Eva Newbourn Guffey, brothers Cleo Guffey and Lee Guffey.
Pallbearers will be Brandon, Zack, Chase and Jeff Guffey, Freddie Lee ,Wally Brown and Steve Whitley.
Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys Home Health of Calhoun County and staff of Amedisys Hospice of Gadsden and Rainbow City, Dr. Thomas D. Harper, Dr. B.M. Carr and Dr. Ghanshyam Patel.
Special thanks to caregivers for their exceptional care of Jack during his illness: Sharon, Sandra, Scarlet , Al , Michele, Joan, Robin, Carol and Susan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 pm until the time of service
