Obituary

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Gwen Lovell, 78, of Gadsden, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014. The Reverend Tommy Puckett will officiate. Entombment will be in Crestwood Mausoleum. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mrs. Lovell was a lifetime member of Alabama City Church of God, but attended many churches. She loved gospel singing and sang with The Master Workers Quartet, Southern Echoes and several others. She sang with Patsy Harris Smith, Jean Cox Weaver and was accompanied by Bonnie Beck on piano. She was a 1953 graduate of Emma Sansom High School.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Leo; parents, Richmond and Gladys Franklin; brother, Joseph Franklin; and sisters, Wanda Wallace and Angela Bradberry.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leo Lovell; children, Pamela (Rick) Boutell, Angela (Dan) Foster, Priscilla (Tommy) Puckett and Darryl (Cynthia) Lovell; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and another on the way; sister, Dorcas (Fred) Trueman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Etowah County Humane Society.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
