A graveside service will be held at 11am Wednesday, March 29th at Crestwood Cemetery, for Gordon Lee Gibson, age 86, of Rainbow City, who went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2023. Rev. Mike Cleckler will officiate. Crestwood Funeral will direct services.
He was born on October 25, 1936 to William and Hattie Gibson. He grew up in Steele,Al with 10 brothers and sisters. He graduated from Ashville High School class of 1956 where he lettered in Basketball. After high school he attended Aviation School in Minnesota.He was a proud U.S. army veteran and served as as tank commander. Upon returning to Etowah County he married his sweetheart Carolyn Holman, they raised three children. Cynthia (Tommy) Spinks, Teresa (Steve) Garmany, David (Tammie) Gibson. They have five grandchildren Andrea Spinks, Ashton (Kevin) Waggoner, Dr. Lauren Gibson, Tara (Dalton) Leeth, great-grandchildren Carolyna Charlytte, Thomas, Penelope and Emerson,
Gordon was a glazier by trade and worked for Copland Glass Company for 42 years.
He then worked for the city of Gadsden Parks and Recreation until retirement. Gordon will be remembered as a devoted Christian, long time faithful member of Cathedral of Praise, worked hard all his life, and enjoyed all outdoor activities including gardening, and especially fishing.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. James Robinson and all others that cared for Gordon over the years.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
