Obituary

Glenda (Ballard) Pruitt age 84 of Gadsden, Alabama was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was born August 30, 1942, in Gadsden, Alabama, a daughter of the late Verbon Ballard and Ruby Whitworth Ballard. She was a 1962 graduate of Gadsden High School. 

Glenda had a multitude of hobbies over the years. From sewing to camping to fishing. She loved antiques and even owned an antique store. She loved shopping and was a familiar face at many stores, where employees often knew her by name. But above all, she treasured spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brother Farrell Ballard and sister Barbara Ballard Cauthen. Glenda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry Wayne Pruitt; daughters Angela Pruitt Waits, Kelly Pruitt Alldredge (Heath) and Jamie Pruitt Huff (Michael); twin brother Larry Ballard (Becky) and chosen sister Zandra Shirley. Grandchildren Adam Clough (Emily), Caimen Dennis (Carleson), Grant Waits (Avery), Clay Waits (Emily), Ally Pruitt Wilmore (Kristian), Bradley Huff, and Sean Huff. Great grandchildren Adalynn Waits and Weston Wilmore and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday September 16, 2026, at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home, Gadsden, Alabama. Grant Waits will officiate the funeral. Friends may visit from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. Adam Clough, Caimen Dennis, Carleson Dennis, Grant Waits, Clay Waits, and Kristian Wilmore will serve as pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Dementia Society of America.
