Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, September 16 at Crestwood Chapel for Gerald Wilson, age 77, of Ashville, who died Tuesday September 13, 2011. Ministers Blake Jones and Norman Flynn will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral home will direct services.
After serving in the Armed Forces, Gerald returned to Alabama and worked as a pharmacist, became a realtor and broker, and was a licensed pilot. He loved flying so much that he made a landing strip at his home. He wrote winning essays while he was a student at Auburn University.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie; parents George and Gladys Wilson; and niece Debra Barker Tillman.
He is survived by his sister Betty Barker; stepdaughter Gypsy Cole; great niece Joey (Roland) Brinkley; great great niece and nephew Cheyenne and Trey Brinkley. numerous nieces; nephews; and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of McGuffey Health care and Gentiva Wiregrass Hospice.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
