Georgia Eugenias left her earthly body and passed into her heavenly resting place on December 31, 2025. She passed peacefully in her sleep at McGuffey nursing home surrounded by the most caring and loving caregivers. Georgia was born August 18, 1932 and was the third daughter of George and Amfithea Malfas. She lived with her parents and two sisters, Mary Condell and Aspasia Gulas in Gadsden. She attended Gadsden High School the University of Montebello and Jacksonville State University. In 1952 she married the love of her life Lambros Eugenias from Samos, Greece, and had two children Emanuel and Amfithia"Thea" Bass. Georgia was proceeded in death by her parents, her two sisters, her beloved daughter, Thea, and her step grandson, Brandon Scott, Sparks, and her husband Lambros. Georgia, and Lambros owned the Sombrero restaurant, the Empire restaurant, and Manny steak and seafood house and a
very successful catering business Georgia is survived by her son Emmanuel (Velda) of Gadsden, step granddaughter Stephanie Jae Sparks of Gadsden and granddaughter Alexis (Taylor) Noon of Brunswick, Georgia, and three great grandsons Gabrielle Mitchell of Gadsden, Noah Moon and Micah Moon of Brunswick, Georgia.
Georgia was a member of the holy Trinity- Holy Cross Greek Orthodox church in Birmingham. Her family faith, and Greek culture were the most important parts of her life. She listed among her most loved family that she will miss as the Vezertzis and Condell family in Gadsden, the Patelos family in Birmingham, the Gulas family in Chattanooga, the Malfas family in Chicago, her two nieces in Greece Danai Evgenia and Evagelia, Mytilinou and the Pampoukas familyin Basel, Switzerland. She leaves her dearest friend from college, Barbara Russell of Gadsden and dear friends too many to mention.
Georgia was an active and hard-working woman. As her son put it, "She was the best cooker in the world". Anyone who ate her food would agree. She was very civic minded and very involved in her community.
Special accolades were her leadership skills, "she was lovingly referred to as General by her immediate family. She was the first woman president of the Alabama Restaurant Association. She served as president of The Altrusa Club and the beautification board and served on a board of the Gadsden Etowah tourism association, she was one of the founders of the taste of Gadsden. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Mitchell, Billy Petelos, Michael Clay, Pat Vezertzis Jr, George Malfas, honorary pallbearer John Malfas of Chicago. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday,
