Funeral services will be at 11am today at First Baptist Church of Trussville Chapel, for George Hathaway, 91, of Trussville , who died April 9, 2014. Rev. Bobby Erwin will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Born in Geneva County Alabama in 1923. He was a member of the CCC serving in Oregon. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served as a gunner in the Pacific theater aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey during World War II. He served as a deacon for many years at The First Baptist Church Trussville where he assisted in the construction of several additions to the church.
He was survived by his wife Catherine Hathaway; sons, Ronald (Wanda) and Gerald (Kathy) Hathaway; daughter Katrina (Randy) Henderson; Grandchildren, Eric, Andrew, David, Joy, Kayla, Sarah; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric Hathaway, Andrew, David and Randy Henderson, Paul Spina and Jimmy Carden .
