Obituary

George W. Adams Jr. went home to be with the Lord on July 28th, 2021 after a 21/2 year battle with cancer. It ravaged his body but never conquered his spirit. He was 65 years young.
George lived each day with a grateful heart and a positive attitude. He loved to engage people in conversation encouraging them to share their thoughts and ideas as well as thoughtfully sharing his own. He always had a smile on his face and focused on others.
George was born in Fayetteville N.C. November 3, 1955. He had the opportunity to live in other states but his heart belonged to California and he spent most of his life there.  He graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Economics. He owned his own accounting software business. Later he worked and managed software development and then advanced billing systems with PG&E as an employee and contractor. He is remembered fondly as a true gentleman by his work friends and was always ready to lend a hand and mentor the new folks.
George loved his church at Lake Merritt UMC. He is remembered for his honesty, hard work, dedication, and generosity as well as his beautiful speaking and singing voice. He loved to volunteer and serve with his church family and joyfully sang with the choir praises to God.
One of George's true passions was theatre. He appeared in many community theatre productions, but his home theatre was the Masquers Playhouse in Point Richmond where he was an active member. As well as performing he served on many committees, including the Board of Directors. He first came to Masquers as a member of the cast of Camelot in 1988. He rarely took a break from performing, participating with distinction in musicals, comedies, and dramas- from Amahl and the Night Visitors to Moon for the Misbegotten to The Real Inspector Hound and countless other shows. He was generous with his time, talent, and donations. His Masquers family will miss him terribly. His kindness, good sense, and and optimism served the Playhouse well.
George loved spending time with his friends, seeing shows, participating in trivia night at the local pub and taking trips to load up on sausage.
George was preceded in death by his parents George and Patricia Adams.
He is survived by:
