Gary Christopher Mayo, 82 passed away on Saturday, October 28th. Funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Crestwood Chapel and  vistiation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Crestwood Funeral Home. Burial will be at Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery.
He would love to attend church when he was able with his wife and mother in law "Nanny". He loved the Lord and every time he would speak about the Lord or pray he would get emotional. He loved his family and loved to spend time with them every chance he could, especially if they had food (haha). He loved old cars and had many of his own over the years. He was a member of "The Bama Street Rod Club". He loved to go to all the different car shows and being with friends. He was avid Alabama Football Fan and loved to watch the games with his grandsons!
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Ford Mayo. Three daughters Karyn Duncan (Jeremy), Christy Yocum (Chris) and Benita Sawyer (Dave).
Grandchildren Libby and Layla Duncan; Cy and Colby Yocum; Tyler Sawyer and Camrea Johnson (Taylor). Two greatgrandchildren Rease and Halle Johnson. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and special friends will serve as Pallbearers.
Thank you to all my special neighbors for all you have done over the years and continue to do, we could not have made it without you. Special thank you to Glenn and Belinda Blackburn for all they have done to help us.
Also a special thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Gadsden Regional and Grandview Medical Center for taking such good care of him.
Gary was one of a kind. If you knew him, he would bring a smile to your face. You could hear him a mile away and had a smile that would light the room up. He never met a stranger!
