Funeral will be at Crestwood for Garfield James Lambert age 92 of Glencoe, Al who died June 21, 2016. Rev. Thom Harrison and Lloyd "Red" Watkins will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Born in Calhoun County Alabama to Dewitt and Sula Griffith Lambert. Mr. Lambert was a Charter member of North Glencoe Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran who served in Germany and France and a member of VFW post 10408 in Glencoe. He had been involved many years putting up the crosses and flags in the median of US 431 in Glencoe. He was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2011, was a volunteer with the Senior Outreach Program in Glencoe and was chosen as the AARP volunteer of the year in 2001. Garfield was a Master Mason 2nd degree at the Glencoe Lodge.

Mr. Lambert was retired from Merita/Flowers Bakery where he had served as Production Manager and Superintendent for 42 years.

Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt and Sula Lambert; first wife, Mildred Lambert; and his wife of 57 years, Eunice Lambert; brothers, Rushel Lambert and R.C. Griffith; great granddaughter, Kaylee Jo Lanham.

Survived by daughters, Nora Carolyn Hill and Brenda Lambert; grandchildren, Angie (Bruce) Maples and Ramona Hill; great grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Duff, Austin (Lindsay) Maples, Allie Maples and Randy (Jessica) Lanham; great-great grandchildren, Luke & Zoe Duff and Will Maples.

Pallbearers: Randy Lanham, Bruce Maples, Austin Maples, Matt Duff, Ed Dunn, Steve Johnson, Sammy McCurry, Kevin Hamilton

Honorary Pallbearers will be friends of VFW Post 10408 and Glencoe Masonic Lodge.

Special Thanks to caregivers, Sarah Vance, Steve & Debbie Johnson, Nan Boyd, Kitisha Kimbrough, Karen Nance and Diane Evers. All other Amedisys Hospice caregivers. Mr. Lambert loved each one.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Visitation will be Saturday 11:00 until time for service at 1:00.
